The most durable portable solar mat on the market. Guaranteed.
When you’re out camping, particularly when you’re travelling through remote country, you must be able to rely on your solar panel. If your panel fails it can mean disaster for your trip – in some cases even having to cut it short or travel many kilometres to find a replacement.
We know how important reliable solar power is, and that’s why we’ve spared no expense in developing and producing our new Hard Korr® heavy duty portable solar panels. These panels have been designed to not only survive in hard conditions, but thrive in them. We’ve specified the highest quality materials, prototyped and tested obsessively, and pay constant attention to our manufacturing process to ensure our meticulous standards are maintained.
We use:
- Rugged 1680D canvas (double the strength of most others)
- Certified A-grade monocrystalline solar cells with solid copper backing and 20 points of contact
- Our exclusive Crocskin® armour cell armour coating for ultimate UV and impact protection
That’s why we’re the only portable solar company in Australia that’s confident enough to offer a 3 year warranty on our solar mats. It’s also why we were awarded two Global Media Awards for our portable solar products at the 2018 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, USA.

ALL-NEW lithium-compatible regulator
This product now comes bundled with our new smart solar regulator.
This smart regulator will optimally charge a range of battery types, including AGM, Gel, Calcium, Wet and all lithium variants (LiFePO4, Li-ion, Li4Ti5O12). It contains a host of smart electronics including reverse polarity protection, short circuit protection, reverse current protection, overcharge protection and more.
Its large, backlit LCD screen provides useful information relating to power input and battery charge level, and inbuilt LEDs provide a quick-reference indicator of battery charge status.
If the regulator is not required – for example if you are using the solar panels with a DC-DC charger or a built-in regulator – it can simply be disconnected. All cables are terminated with Anderson plugs for ease of use.
The Crocskin® Difference
Sitting under the baking hot sun for many hours at a time means solar mats are exposed to large quantities of ultraviolet light and generate a significant amount of heat every time they are used. The materials used in the construction of the mat must be resistant to both, as well as being flexible and impact resistant.
Our exclusive Crocskin® cell armour coating has been specifically designed with this in mind. It provides an excellent protective barrier to the solar cells, increasing their durability and lifespan.
In fact, our Crocskin® coating showed no signs of deterioration after an accelerated weathering test that simulated 30 years’ sun exposure.
The Hard Korr® Guarantee
All Hard Korr® products are manufactured using the highest quality materials. We are confident that they are the most durable in the market and will give you many years of reliable service. We stand behind this product with a comprehensive 3-year Australian warranty, plus a 30-day money back guarantee.
Frequently Asked Questions
What separates a Hard Korr® folding solar mat from cheaper models?
Mostly it comes down to quality of materials and manufacturing. We specify certified A-grade monocrystalline solar cells for optimum efficiency and lifespan, solid copper cell backing with 20 points of contact, extra-tough 1680D canvas and exclusive Crocskin® armour coating for durability. Our panels are manufactured to a very high standard including strong stitching and careful wiring. That’s why we are able to offer a long 3-year warranty!
Do I have to use the included controller?
You must always use a controller between the solar panel and your battery, but if you have your own solar controller (e.g. built into a camper trailer or RV) you can use that instead. We include an Anderson plug connector in the box.
How do I position my solar mat?
You can place your solar mat anywhere it receives direct sunlight. This might be on your windscreen or bonnet, on top of your awning, on your roof rack, or on the ground using the inbuilt legs. You will experience a moderate increase in output if you are able to angle the panels 30-45° to the sun.
If one cell is shaded or blocked, does the whole panel stop producing electricity?
No. Our mat is designed with bypass diodes to ensure that if one cell is not producing power the rest of the cells are unaffected. This is another difference between a Hard Korr panel and cheaper models.
Can I leave my mat out in the weather?
Yes, Hard Korr solar mats are designed to withstand rain and even hail. However, your panel will not generally produce much electricity during inclement weather so we recommend you bring it inside at these times. If your solar mat gets wet, please ensure it is thoroughly dried prior to storage.
Which panel do I need for my setup?
Start by finding out the total current draw of all the equipment you wish to use. Multiply this figure by the number of hours the equipment is generally used to get the total amp hours consumed. Solar panels can generally provide their stated output for 8 hours per day, so multiply the stated output by 8 hours to find out how many amp hours your solar mat can provide. Here’s a worked example:
You use a Hard Korr 5-bar camp kit for 4 hours per day (3A x 4h = 12Ah)
You use a fridge for 24 hours per day that draws 1.5A per hour (1.5A x 24h = 36Ah)
Total consumption = 48Ah
Add 25% buffer = 48 x 1.25 = 60Ah
Solar panel output required = 60Ah / 8 = 7.5A
Hard Korr’s 150w portable solar panel produces up to 8.33A per hour on a clear day and will be sufficient in these circumstances.

I have only had one opportunity in recent times to try out my new HardKorr 150W crocskin panel but it worked brilliantly and even in partial shade was easily able to produce 8.8 Amps topping up my car battery. The unit seems solidly built and is easy to handle. It was just what I was looking.

Recently purchased one of these 150w Croc skin folding panels and had a chance to use and test out over the Australia Day weekend. We have permanently mounted the controller in our camper trailer battery compartment and the controller is fantastic shows all the relevant info in a nice backlit display and is easy to use. The panel performed exceptionally well in full sun producing a full 9.2amps at one stage throughout the charging process. Fantastic product and highly recommend.

Have now tried out our 150w Crocskin Cell Armour on a week of camping . Easy to set up with integrated supports which work really well, quick to attach to battery, and easily kept our deep cycle battery at 100%. Great carry bag for easy storage of all items, and fits snugly into the storage in our camper.
The regulator had all info clearly shown, and was easy to read. I have it attached in our camper battery compartment.
Top quality gear at very reasonable prices ( and near where I live if any problems).

I have been using Korr Lighting 200W folding solar panel for the last 3 years and a year ago another camper drove over and crushed 2 of the 4 panels, i cut off the broken ones and am using it as a 100W panel, it is still producing regularly 5 amps, So I purchased a 150W folding panel with Crocskin Armour and it is a fantastic product, shadows across the panel do not shut it down and it performs exactly as expected. I have a few products now including 10W headlamp which is brilliant although cumbersome but it can light a forest up. The solar controller has Lifepo4 mode so it produces so much power right upto 100% charge. Cheap panels produce low and poor outputs, these Korr Lighting panels produce exactly what you expect. Love the easy of putting them out and easy to fold away, it definitely has had alot of thought in its design. 5 stars to the team at HardKorr

Used these panels for the first time over the weekend and there’s no complaints here. I’m a bit of a novice when it comes to off grid power set ups but it was simply a case of plugging into the battery box via the PWM controller and placing the panels out in the sun, and away you go. Kept the battery topped up all weekend which was powering my fridge even though the panels were in shade half the time. They seem to be made to a high quality and they fold away beautifully in the flat bag for discreet storage.

Just received the 150w panels today. Can’t believe how well packed and put together this unit is. There’s plenty of weight in it, which reassures me as to the robust quality, and the regulator and fittings seem top quality as well.
Just attached the regulator to the battery to make sure it started up, and all well.
Really look forward to using this in the bush ……… when we are able to go there again !!

My husband and I used our Hard Korr 150w Folding solar mat for the first time last weekend when camping for five days and were very pleased to see inputs of up to 143w – much better than our other good quality 120W solar mat (different brand) that we’ve owned for almost two years but which never seems to get above 100W.
