The Crocskin® Difference

Sitting under the baking hot sun for many hours at a time means solar mats are exposed to large quantities of ultraviolet light and generate a significant amount of heat every time they are used. The materials used in the construction of the mat must be resistant to both, as well as being flexible and impact resistant.

Our exclusive Crocskin® cell armour coating has been specifically designed with this in mind. It provides an excellent protective barrier to the solar cells, increasing their durability and lifespan.

In fact, our Crocskin® coating showed no signs of deterioration after an accelerated weathering test that simulated 30 years’ sun exposure.

All Korr® products are manufactured using the highest quality materials. We are confident that they are the most durable in the market and will give you many years of reliable service. We stand behind this product with a comprehensive 5-year Australian warranty, plus a 30-day money back guarantee.

Installation

Installation is a breeze only taking 1-2 minutes. Simply unfold your solar mat, place in the sunlight, and connect the 5m lead from the solar controller to the battery. It’s that easy!

Frequently Asked Questions

What separates a Hard Korr® folding solar mat from cheaper models?

Mostly it comes down to quality of materials and manufacturing. We specify genuine SunPower® solar cells for optimum efficiency and lifespan, extra-tough 1680D canvas, fibre backing and exclusive Crocskin® armour coating for durability. Our panels are manufactured to a very high standard including strong stitching and careful wiring. That’s why we are able to offer a massive 5-year warranty!

Why SunPower® cells?

Quite simply, SunPower make the best solar cells currently available in the market. They are much stronger, more efficient and more durable than cheaper alternatives. You can find out more about them here.

Do I have to use the included controller?

You must always use a controller between the solar panel and your battery, but if you have your own solar controller (e.g. built into a camper trailer or RV) you can use that instead. We include an Anderson plug connector in the box.

How do I position my solar mat?

You can place your solar mat anywhere it receives direct sunlight. This might be on your windscreen or bonnet, on top of your awning, on your roof rack, or on the ground. You will experience a small increase in output if you are able to angle the panels 45° to the sun but in practice this is not mandatory for good performance.

If one cell is shaded or blocked, does the whole panel stop producing electricity?

No. Our mat is designed with bypass diodes to ensure that if one cell is not producing power the rest of the cells are unaffected. This is another difference between a Hard Korr panel and cheaper models.

Can I leave my mat out in the weather?

Yes, Hard Korr solar mats are designed to withstand rain and even hail. However, your panel will not generally produce much electricity during inclement weather so we recommend you bring it inside at these times.

Which panel do I need for my setup?

Start by finding out the total current draw of all the equipment you wish to use. Multiply this figure by the number of hours the equipment is generally used to get the total amp hours consumed. Solar panels can generally provide their stated output for 8 hours per day, so multiply the stated output by 8 hours to find out how many amp hours your solar mat can provide. Here’s a worked example:

You use a Hard Korr 5-bar camp kit for 4 hours per day (3A x 4h = 12Ah)
You use a fridge 24 hours per day that draws 2A (2A x 24h = 48Ah)
Total consumption = 60Ah
Solar panel output required = 60Ah / 8 = 7.5A
Hard Korr’s 150w mat produces a guaranteed 7.6A on a clear day and will be sufficient in most circumstances. A 200w panel would provide additional buffer.

I recently purchased a 200w folding panel from you for a trip to beautiful Warroora station in the west australian north.
We stayed for a month and used your panel to charge a secondary battery fitted to my ute with a reserve capacity of 130 and 68amp hrs.
I had a 40l engel fridge running exclusively as a freezer from the battery.
This setup ran the freezer without a hitch and made for a comfortable well stocked holiday.
    I was most impressed.

I just wanted to thank you for your great service. I paid for three 200W solar mats yesterday afternoon, and the mats arrived this morning. Fantastic. I opened up the first box to check the product and found it to be exactly as advertised with very clear instructions. I then set up the mat and connected it and the controller directly to an 85Ah AGM battery in my vehicle. I have a 40lt Engel fridge running on the battery at the same time. When the solar mat is in full sun I was very pleased to see that the system was putting up to 12.3A into the battery for a short time. Once the voltage came up and with the Engel stopped it was consistently charging the battery at 1.5/2A. Needless to say, I am stoked with my purchase. It’s a great product and well made, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Very happy with my two 200W solar mats received today. Both worked out the box and they are so light. Only tested them on a battery that was almost fully charged but tomorrow I will run a 47 liter fridge freezer off the battery and put the solar mat on to see how it performs under load. The controller is good quality and gives you all the info you would need. Seems smart and light.

    200w Flexible Folding Solar Mat
Have been using this mat with a Victron MPPT 75/15 controller for a few months now and are very impressed.
The ease of use is fantastic and being able to set it all up ( cables etc) before loading the panels (exposing to the sun) is a bonus.
Set up, open the mat out and off you go.
Build quality is good and could only suggest better waterproofing on back of Anderson plug adaptor.
I made a frame to angle it to the sun and after initial test have NEVER used it as it is so efficient just laying it on the ground.
    Well done Korr Lighting

Took it camping with us for 3 days& it worked very good, did all that is advertised. have a camper with 2x 100ah batt. & run an 80 litre evakool fridge/freezer + lights, water pump, & charge phones. even if not in full sun it was still putting a charge into the batts.,(i was impressed with that). used to have a 160w folding solar panel & it just didn’t do the job. So far so good.
